Direct Counsel has partnered with a premier California law firm to hire a Senior Land Use & Environmental Associate for its highly respected Land Use and Environmental Group. This team handles sophisticated, large-scale development matters involving high-profile public and private projects across the state.

The firm is seeking attorneys with 7+ years of experience to join its Los Angeles, Oakland, or San Diego offices.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience with CEQA, land use entitlements, regulatory permitting, and environmental review processes . Experience advising clients on complex development projects is essential. Land use litigation experience is strongly preferred.

Key Qualifications

7+ years of land use and environmental law experience

Deep knowledge of CEQA , planning and zoning laws, and California land use processes

Strong research, writing, and advocacy skills

Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively within a team

Ability to support clients on complex entitlement and permitting pathways

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range : $250,000–$340,000 (dependent on experience, skillset, and office location)

Reasonable billable hours requirement
