The Position :
The Controller will oversee daily accounting operations, ensuring compliance with established accounting methods and policies. They will enhance systems, achieve financial goals, maintain records, and conduct financial analysis. Additional responsibilities include supervising audits, collaborating with external accountants, ensuring regulatory compliance, and safeguarding asset integrity and confidentiality. Working closely with the CEO and Finance Director, the Controller will regularly communicate financial decisions, aiming to maximize returns and mitigate risks.
Responsibilities :
- Ensure timely reporting of the financial results, as well as an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
- Oversee and monitor accounts receivable, including collections, monitoring, and assessing risk with past due accounts
- Manage and monitor cash availability and liquidity
- Lead the continuous enhancement of internal financial reporting to provide meaningful insights to the leadership team
- Evaluate and make appropriate improvements to internal accounting processes and tools while ensuring that practices are both in line with the overall goals of the organization
- Partner with the CEO and Director of Finance to ensure accounting practices align with the organization's financial vision and mission
- Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation (NetSuite).
- Monitors and confirms the financial condition by coordinating and completing annual audits and providing necessary information to external insurance, financial, and accounting auditors.
- Guide on technical accounting issues and new accounting standards.
- Participate in 3rd party audits to ensure regulatory compliance and industry standards
- Assess current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement,t and implementing new processes.
- Analyze plant financial data, including activity rates, variances, and inventory valuation.
- Identify and implement strategic initiatives to improve efficiency and customer service.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldCertified Public Accountant (“CPA”) or Certified Management Accountant (“CMA”), required5 + years of progressive experience in accounting / finance, with exposure to manufacturing accounting and / or varied financial / accounting positions5 + years responsible for monthly financial closing and reporting in compliance with GAAP and company policiesExperience using NetSuite and / or SAP in a manufacturing environmentProven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulationsMicrosoft Excel skills to include the ability to create spreadsheets (e.g., formulas such as V-lookup, graphs, pivot tables)Strong attention to detail and accuracy, ability to think strategically, and develop new solutionsExperience working on audits to prepare and examine financial records, identify potential areas of opportunity and risk, and provide solutionsAdheres to company-wide green norms, looks for ways to reduce, reuse, recycleStrives to continually improve and implement new processes to reduce our environmental impactAbility to travel to Latin America, 2+ trips per yearSpanish-speaking skills requiredBased in Denver, COSalary & Benefits :
