Summary:
Provides assistance to the Emergency Department physicians, nurses, and respiratory therapists in pre-hospital and Emergency Department Triage, stabilization, and transport of patients.

Formal Education Required: Successful completion of a course approved by the Ohio Department of Public Safety Division of EMS in Paramedic education and current certification by the State of Ohio.

Experience & Training Required: One (1) years of field experience (recent, within past five years), as an EMT in a part time or full time capacity.

Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
a. Current certification in BLS-HCP and ACLS
b. May require current certification in PALS - varies by location
c. Other certifications and competencies as required by department
d. Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity

Level of Physical Demands:
a. Heavy: Exerts 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or ten to 20 pounds of force continuously to move objects
b. Ability to move and lift patients
