Essential Job Functions for Safety and Assets Assistant

Safety Management :

  • Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive safety policies and procedures for all aspects of the company operation, adhering to MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) regulations and industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment, facilities, and work areas to identify and address potential hazards.
  • Investigate safety incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for all personnel at the company.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by encouraging safe work practices and fostering open communication about safety concerns.
  • Stay informed about new safety regulations and best practices in the industry.

Asset Management :

  • Oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive maintenance plan for all company equipment (loaders, excavators, crushers, trucks, etc.).
  • Scheduling preventive maintenance tasks to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Developing budgets for equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Collaborating with mechanics and maintenance personnel to ensure proper equipment upkeep.
  • Manage capital expenditure plans for acquiring new equipment or upgrading existing facilities based on operational needs and safety considerations.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of company infrastructure like buildings, roads, and storage facilities.
  • Implement strategies to optimize asset utilization and lifespan while minimizing operating costs.

    • Additional Skills and Responsibilities :

  • May be involved in environmental compliance tasks, ensuring the company adheres to all regulations related to dust control, water management, and waste disposal.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans for various potential incidents such as fires, equipment malfunctions, or blasting accidents.
  • Maintain clear communication channels with all personnel regarding safety protocols, changes in procedures, and any potential hazards.
  • Strong understanding of MSHA regulations, safety best practices, and potentially environmental regulations relevant to landscape rock quarries.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify safety hazards, assess equipment maintenance needs, and address environmental concerns.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, delegate tasks effectively, and work under pressure.
  • Proficiency in using relevant software for maintenance planning, record keeping, or safety training.

    • Overall, the Safety and Assets role is crucial. It combines safety leadership with responsibility for the wise management of the company's equipment and infrastructure. This position plays a vital role in ensuring a safe work environment, maximizing equipment lifespan, and minimizing operational costs.

    Requirements :

    This combined role manages all aspects of company safety programs and oversees the maintenance and management of company assets (equipment and infrastructure).

    Key Responsibilities :

  • Safety Management : Develops and enforces safety policies / procedures (MSHA compliant), conducts inspections, investigates incidents, develops training programs, and promotes a strong safety culture.
  • Asset Management : Oversees equipment maintenance plans, manages capital expenditures for new equipment, ensures infrastructure maintenance, and optimizes asset utilization.
  • Additional Responsibilities (May Include) : Environmental compliance, emergency response planning, and clear communication with personnel.

    • Required Skills & Experience :

  • Strong understanding of MSHA regulations, safety best practices, and potentially environmental regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and delegate effectively.
