Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Detox & Behavioral Health
Position Overview:
We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) with a strong background in detoxification, withdrawal management, and behavioral health care to join our clinical team. This role is ideal for nurses who are confident working with patients experiencing substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions in residential or inpatient treatment settings.
The RN will play a critical role in ensuring safe withdrawal management, medication administration, crisis intervention, and collaborative treatment planning within an interdisciplinary care model.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide nursing care for patients undergoing detox and withdrawal management
Utilize and document assessments using CIWA (Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment) and COWS (Clinical Opiate Withdrawal Scale) protocols
Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments upon admission and throughout treatment
Safely administer and monitor medications, including withdrawal management and psychiatric medications
Monitor vital signs, withdrawal symptoms, and behavioral health status
Respond to and support patients during medical or behavioral crises
Document all care in accordance with clinical, regulatory, and facility standards
Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other clinical staff as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team
Educate patients on medications, withdrawal processes, and recovery support
Maintain a therapeutic, professional, and supportive environment for individuals in recovery
Required Qualifications:
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
Experience in detox, withdrawal management, or substance use disorder treatment
Hands-on experience with CIWA and COWS protocols
Background in behavioral health, psychiatric, residential, or inpatient settings
Strong assessment and clinical judgment skills
Experience with medication administration in behavioral health or detox settings
Ability to remain calm and effective in crisis situations
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders
Familiarity with trauma-informed care
BLS/CPR certification
