Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Compensation : $22.00 to $42.00 per hour, based on experience and a proven track record of skill and reliability.

Job Location : The Maintenance Shop is located in Bedford, NH. All other sites are in southern NH and within 30 minutes of the shop.

Job Type : This is a full-time hourly position. Employees are eligible for regular benefits after 90 days which include :

Position Summary :

LaMontagne Builders, Inc., is hiring a full-time experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The best candidate would be able to conduct repairs and maintenance for heavy equipment that includes excavators, loaders, rollers, skid steers, and a fleet of commercial vehicles both large and small. This position encompasses both field work and work in shop.

A qualified applicant must their own tools needed to complete work described below.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel and gasoline-powered equipment and vehicles.
  • Perform preventative maintenance services and inspections per company schedule.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
  • Conduct field service calls for breakdowns or emergency repairs.
  • Operate diagnostic tools and test equipment to identify malfunctions.
  • Perform component replacements, rebuilds, and adjustments (brakes, steering, transmission, etc.).
  • Maintain accurate service and repair records.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety standards and company policies.

    • Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification preferred.
  • 3+ years of diesel or heavy equipment mechanic experience (construction preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license required; May require CDL or DOT Medical Card
  • Proficiency with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform work that involves frequent standing, bending, and climbing.
  • Welding and fabrication skills a plus.
  • MSHA, OSHA, or similar safety training a plus.
