Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Writer to join our team in the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL). The Technical Writer will be responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining a wide range of technical documents, manuals, procedures, and other materials related to defense-related systems, projects, and operations.

Create and update technical documentation, including system specifications, design documents, user manuals, and other materials in accordance with DoD standards and guidelines.

Collaborate with subject matter experts, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather information and ensure the accuracy of technical documentation.

Review and edit documents to ensure clarity, accuracy, and completeness, and to ensure compliance with DoD policies and standards.

Develop and maintain a repository of technical documents and related materials.

Participate in project meetings and provide input on technical writing requirements and deliverables.

Ensure that technical documents are properly formatted, organized, and version controlled.

Manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.

Requirements

Strong writing and editing skills, with experience creating technical documents and user manuals.

Knowledge of DoD standards and guidelines for technical writing and documentation.

Familiarity with defense-related systems, projects, and operations.

Familiarity with Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Cybersecurity Policies / Practices preferred.

Experience with Confluence for Document Management.

Experience working with subject matter experts, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather information and ensure the accuracy of technical documentation.

Excellent organizational and project management skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
