The Floor Technician position maintains prescribed standards of cleanliness for assigned areas and follows prescribed procedures and work schedules. Cares for hard surface floors. This position must integrate company values into daily practice.

Essential functions:
- Maintains floors by proper cleaning techniques which will include stripping, waxing, buffing, as needed.
- Reports maintenance needs.
- Adheres to facilities management policies and procedures regarding use of hazardous materials and exposure to body substances and utilizes/wears required protective equipment and/or clothing.
- Assists in cleaning all patient rooms and ancillary areas as assigned.
- Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff. Assesses the risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions. Complies with appropriate and approved safety and infection prevention standards.
- Maintains regular attendance in keeping with assigned work schedule.
- Completes required trainings, as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support overall effectiveness of the organization.
Minimum job requirements
Minimum education & experience:
- Previous floor technician/environmental services experience required.
- Hospital environment experience preferred.
- OR any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Knowledgeable of appropriate healthcare environmental services procedures.
- Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality.
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection prevention standards.
- Ability to work closely and professionally with others at all levels of the organization.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Physical requirements over the course of a shift:
- A significant amount of standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling, often for prolonged periods of time.
- Lifting/exerting of up to 25 lbs.
- Possible exposure to bodily fluids.
- Ability to hear overhead pages.
