Position Overview :
We’re seeking a highly motivated, technically skilled Technical Project Management Associate to join our team in Sacramento as a key entry-level hire with strong growth potential. This full-time, in-person role reports directly to the CEO and is tailored for recent engineering graduates (or those with 0-3 years of experience) who are eager to apply their technical knowledge to real-world software implementations, master project coordination, and build toward a full Technical Project Manager role.
You’ll work side-by-side with the CEO on special implementation projects, gaining hands-on expertise in NEXGEN’s platform, engineering processes, client requirements, and project lifecycle management. This is a high-visibility, fast-paced opportunity for someone proactive, analytical, and driven to tackle technical challenges from day one. Ideal for engineering minds (e.g., mechanical, electrical, civil, software, or industrial engineering backgrounds) who want to transition into technical project management in SaaS / enterprise tech.
This full-time role is based in our Sacramento, CA office.
Responsibilities :
This role will work directly with the CEO on high-impact assignments that may include the following :
Participate in and support special client implementation projects from planning through go-live, learning NEXGEN’s software architecture, configuration, integration, and best practices
Assist in gathering technical requirements, configuring solutions, conducting testing, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring seamless deployments for key accounts
Shadow and contribute to project management activities, including scope definition, timeline tracking, resource allocation, risk assessment, and progress reporting
Learn engineering-focused project methodologies, client communication, and stakeholder coordination with executive guidance
Take ownership of assigned technical tasks and subtasks with increasing independence as skills develop
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Software, Industrial, or related fields); recent graduates strongly encouraged to apply
0-3 years of professional experience; internships, co-ops, capstone projects, or engineering labs count
Strong technical aptitude and eagerness to learn complex enterprise software systems and engineering applications
High motivation, initiative, and a proactive mindset — you thrive in fast-paced environments and seek out technical challenges
Excellent problem-solving skills with a logical, analytical approach and attention to detail
Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and comfort working directly with executive leadership
Ability to quickly grasp engineering concepts and apply them to project management contexts
Experience or interest in SaaS, asset management, utilities, public works, or related industries is a plus
Must be able to work in-person full-time in our Sacramento office

Compensation :
The compensation range for the annual base pay for this position is $85,000 - $100,000, dependent upon experience. A comprehensive benefits package is offered that includes paid time off; paid holidays; a 401(k)-retirement plan with employer matching; health insurance; and other supplemental benefits.
