Payroll & Benefits Specialist
The Payroll & Benefits Specialist will represent Human Resources in various capacities by communicating information, monitoring, and processing paperwork for District Clerk employees, such as W-4 changes, name changes, and verification of employment. Duties and responsibilities include processing payroll for all full-time employees, processing all benefit updates and new hires insurance, interacting with all levels of management and employees regarding payroll, benefit inquiries, and other organizational updates, and assisting with job fairs and the high school internship program.

Qualifying applicants must complete the Harris County District Clerk Skills Test with a minimum score of 80%. Education and experience required include a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, four years of related experience in a human resources environment, knowledge of STARS (PeopleSoft), and at least two years of payroll experience. Knowledge, skills, and abilities must include excellent presentation, analytical, decision-making, prioritization, and organizational skills, the capability to work under stress and manage multiple projects simultaneously, and excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills. Testing will be required.
Position type and typical hours of work are regular full-time, Monday to Friday, 7 : 30 A.M. to 4 : 30 P.M. Salary is $28.00 to $32.00 hourly, based on 26 pay periods, plus benefits. Employment is contingent upon passing a background check and drug screen.
