• Standard business hours (8 AM-5 PM CST or 7 AM-4 PM CST)
• Job Responsibilities
• Perform
• hospital HB coding for ambulatory surgery
• across multiple service areas (ortho, pain, wound, neuro, cardiac, etc.).
• Review inpatient and outpatient medical records for documentation, abstracting, and analysis.
• Assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes to the highest level of specificity.
• Apply modifiers, CCI edits, LCD / NCD rules, and payer regulations accurately.
• Research and resolve coding issues using
• Epic Charge Review Work Queue
• functionality.
• Collaborate with Clinical Auditors and maintain compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
• Maintain productivity and quality standards (95% accuracy).
• Top Skills Required
• High School Diploma / GED
• Completion of nationally recognized coding program (
• AHIMA / AAPC
• RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CPC certification required
• 2+ years of
• outpatient medical coding experience
• Hospital coding experience in
• surgery and wound service areas
• EHR experience (
• Epic preferred
• Ability to work from a dedicated home office space

This is a Contract position based out of West Des Moines, IA.
