Unit Overview :
Join our dynamic 24-bed Neurosurgical Unit, where you will care for a diverse and complex range of patients, including :
Post-operative patients from craniotomy procedures for bleed evacuation, AVMs, and tumor resections.Patients undergoing cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine surgeries.Hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke patients as part of our Comprehensive Stroke Program.A high volume of cervical and spinal surgery patients, plus medical overflow cases.As part of the Aurora Neuroscience Innovation Institute (ANII), our unit is at the forefront of the latest neurosurgical techniques and innovative care solutions.

Utilize the nursing process to assess patient needs, implement individualized interventions, and evaluate the effectiveness of care plans.Recognize significant changes in patient condition and adjust care plans accordingly.Implement strategies to enhance patient safety and readiness to learn.Coordinate discharge plans using an interdisciplinary approach.Evaluate patient and team outcomes and engage in quality improvement initiatives.Demonstrate effective communication and leadership abilities within the care team.Promote a culture of safety and report potential safety issues in a timely manner.Participate in professional development activities to advance your skills and those of your colleagues.Licensure, Registration, and / or Certification Required :
Registered Nurse license issued by the state of practice.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).Education Required :
Completion of an accredited nursing program.Experience Required :
Typically requires 1 year of clinical nursing experience.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :

Must be able to frequently sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach, and twist during the workday.Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., lift 20 lbs. overhead, and carry 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.Requires the ability to push / pull with 30 lbs. of force.Must utilize foot pedals for equipment operation.Exposure to chemicals, hazardous waste, and communicable diseases, requiring appropriate protective equipment.Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch for patient care procedures.This job description reflects the typical nature and level of work expected of the role and does not encompass all potential duties.
