Saw Operator/Setup Operator

Nesco Resource is seeking an experienced Saw Operator / Setup Operator to support our clients production team. This position is responsible for setting up and operating industrial saws to cut raw material to specified dimensions while maintaining quality, safety, and efficiency standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate various saws (band saws, cold saws, or similar equipment) according to job specifications

• Read and interpret blueprints, job travelers, and cut lists

• Measure, mark, and cut material accurately to required tolerances

• Adjust machine settings for different materials and cut requirements

• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections to ensure quality

• Maintain a clean and organized work area

• Perform routine maintenance and report equipment issues

• Work closely with production and quality teams to meet schedules

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Previous experience as a saw operator or setup person in a manufacturing or machine shop environment

• Strong understanding of measuring tools (tape measures, calipers, micrometers)

• Ability to read blueprints and work instructions

• Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail

• Ability to lift materials and stand for extended periods

• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic

Preferred Skills

• Experience working with metal materials (steel, aluminum, alloys, etc.)

• Forklift experience (or willingness to be trained)

• Familiarity with lean manufacturing practices

Work Environment

• Manufacturing / shop floor environment

• May involve standing, lifting, and operating heavy machinery

• Safety equipment required
