SCHOOL DESCRIPTION

West Philadelphia Achievement Charter Elementary School is an inner city Arts and Technology K-5 Elementary School. We are a family oriented environment with family and community involvement being an integral part of our mission to enrich the lives of our students.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assess students' abilities and develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, families, and service providers
• Provide differentiated instruction in individual, small group, or co-teaching settings
• Adapt curriculum and teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities
• Collect and analyze data to track student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
• Implement behavior management strategies and behavior intervention plans (BIPs)
• Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure access to the general curriculum
• Communicate regularly with families about student progress, goals, and supports
• Maintain compliance with state and federal special education laws (IDEA, Section 504)
• Participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Valid PA Special Education certification
• 3 + years teaching and case management experience
• Must have experience writing and monitoring I.E.P.s. and be familiar with IDEA regulations
• Must be able to obtain or currently have all background clearances (Federal, PA Criminal, & Child Abuse).
• In the event that the need arises, you will need to be able to: lift, pull or push up to 15 lbs, walk a standard flight of stairs, or stand or sit for up to 45 minutes.
