Key Responsibilities
Quality Department Leadership
- Oversee all operations including testing, documentation, reporting, and regulatory conformance
- Coordinate employee training related to quality protocols and standards
Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP)
Ensure 100% vendor compliance and documentation accuracyRequest and monitor expired or missing vendor recordsAssess vendor risk through FSVP scoring and advise purchasing departmentDistribute and enforce annual supplier questionnairesProduct Claims & Quarantines
Investigate product-related claims and internal quality issuesManage and resolve incidents with timely reporting and documentationOversee physical and digital quarantine records, including fumigation logs in SAPExpiration Oversight & Shelf-Life Management
Complete monthly 12-month expiration forecast reportsConduct quality inspections on expired stock and document findingsCoordinate shelf-life extension requests and cross-team inventory movementCertifications Management
Maintain active certifications including Kosher, Organic, USDA, FDA, COA, and PhytosanitaryCoordinate renewal processes and ensure documentation remains current and accessibleMeetings & Collaboration
Lead weekly Quality meetings and record signed minutesSupport cross-functional collaboration to improve product flow, regulatory readiness, and issue resolutionSQF Implementation & Food Safety Documentation
Drive SQF compliance through corrective actions and documentationDevelop and maintain SOPs, GMPs, Food Safety Plans, and internal auditsManage recall readiness including mock recalls and supporting documentationImplement food fraud detection, lab testing, and swab sampling programsAdditional QC Oversight
Govern incoming container QC documentation and FDA hold protocolsEnsure internal QC records are updated and accessibleReview and maintain logs related to product reception and safety verificationThis position will frequently team with other quality assurance agencies in order to produce documents such as :
Kosher certificationsCertificate of Analysis (COA)Phytosanitary CertificationUSDA CertificationFDA CertificationQualifications
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Quality Assurance, or related fieldExperience in quality assurance or food manufacturingStrong knowledge of FSVP, GMPs, SQF, and FDA regulationsSAP proficiency and strong organizational skillsBilingual communication (English / Spanish)Experience managing audits or inspectionsExceptional organization, communication, and leadership skills
