Truck Driver

Overview

Vaughn Construction is seeking a Delivery Driver. Vaughn is one of the largest construction companies in Texas focused on building academic, healthcare, civic, and research buildings for commercial clients.

The Delivery Driver safely operates a flatbed truck to transport and deliver goods, requiring a valid license, clean record, and physical ability for loading/unloading, route planning, securing cargo, performing vehicle checks, documenting deliveries, and providing customer service, adhering strictly to traffic laws and company safety protocols for timely, damage-free delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate the flatbed truck, plan efficient delivery routes, and meet schedules.
• Securely load and unload items, often using pallet jacks or forklifts, ensuring goods arrive undamaged.
• Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections, refuel, and maintain the truck's cleanliness.
• Complete delivery logs, verify paperwork, obtain customer signatures, and report any issues.
• Interact professionally with clients, answer questions, and handle complaints.
• Follow all traffic laws, DOT regulations, and company safety policies.

Education and Training

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1-2 years Experience
• Valid driver's license (CDL not required).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Demonstrated ability to safely operate a company truck.
• Must exhibit an ability to navigate the greater Houston area via maps, personal knowledge of the area to make timely deliveries to the sites.
• Must exhibit good interpersonal skills - this work requires interaction and cooperation with superintendents and project managers.
• This position also requires an extremely reliable and punctual person.
• Person must be self-motivated and organized.
