The
University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria (UlCOMP) Med-Peds Division
is seeking a board certified or board-eligible Med-Peds physician for a
full-time position as an academic Med-Peds physician. This position will carry a dual appointment
in the Internal Medicine and Pediatric Departments at UICOMP and can be
composed of primarily inpatient duties, primarily outpatient duties, or a mixture
of inpatient and outpatient responsibilities depending on the interest of the
faculty member.
The position is as
an Assistant / Associate Professor or
Professor. The ideal candidate will have completed 4 years of Med-Peds residency or nearing completion in the PGY4 year and will beBC / BE in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. The position includes teaching medicalstudents and residents in the Internal Medicine and Pediatric department on inpatient teaching rounds along with
providing clinical services for patients
hospitalized in the Children’s Hospital of Illinois (CHOI) and OSF Saint
Francis Medical Center (SFMC); the faculty member will be able to organize
and conduct research and QI programs as desired with support from the UICOMP
research department and Med-Peds research associate; the faculty will perform
other duties of a University
faculty member including committee assignments, curriculum development and
administration. As a Med-Peds
Hospitalist, opportunities are available for curriculum development, quality
improvement, education and clinical leadership roles in both the Internal
Medicine and Pediatric Departments.
The position also has the opportunity to precept in the
outpatient Med-Peds residency clinic at Heartland Health services, as well as
the possibility of seeing an independent panel of patients without residents if
desired by the faculty member. There is the opportunity to join a procedure / POCUS
service on the internal medicine wards, as well as join a transition team
seeing complex inpatient consults on medicine floors and assisting with
transition from Pediatrics to Medicine for complex inpatients. Further academic
interests can be supported via the Departments of Internal Medicine and
Pediatrics, as well as Undergraduate Medical Education via UICOMP.
The candidate will join the Med-Peds Division at UICOMP as
faculty for the UICOMP Med-Peds residency program. The
Peoria Med-Peds program is one of the largest and most established in the
country with 8 residents per year, and is known for combining innovative state
of the art clinical and educational programs with a resident-first, family
friendly environment. The program is
seeking a Clinician Educator with an equal passion for high value,
patient-centered clinical care and dynamic, evidence based resident education. The Med-Peds group at UICOMP is a dynamic
education-based group of faculty who serve on the inpatient and outpatient services
for the Internal Medicine and Pediatric departments.
Members of the group serve in various academic and
clinical leadership positions across
Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, as well as the hospital and medical school at
large. There are ample opportunities for scholarship, leadership, and academic
advancement within the group, as well as within both departments in which we
serve.
The
primary teaching hospitals for the residency and student programs at UICOMP are
the OSF Healthcare Children's Hospital of Illinois (CHOI) and Saint Francis Medical Center
(SFMC). OSF is UICOMP's main clinical partner. CHOI and SFMC serve
a 37-county region with a population base of over two million
patients and provide comprehensive services to children and adults respectively
as full service tertiary care referral centers.
In
addition to tertiary care clinical services, applicants will have access to the
Jump Trading Simulation Education Center, a state-of-the-art simulation facility with over 40,000 square feet of
space for faculty and other
resources. JUMP is a joint venture
between UICOMP and CHOI and is located on the OSF campus. It is utilized for
simulation-based education for UME and GME, and interested applicants are able
to design curriculum or participate in simulation education for UME and GME as
desired.

Position Summary
This Med-Peds Hospitalist will have an inpatient position with roles in both the Internal Medicine and Pediatric Department. The Med-Peds Hospitalist will conduct rounds on the inpatient Medicine and Pediatric teaching services at SFMC and CHOI respectively. They will be responsible for leading inpatient teaching rounds as a clinician educator and conducting patient care while teaching medical students and residents. In addition, the Hospitalist will patients independently on these services when residents are absent or have a day off of the service.

The budgeted salary
