Construction Manager I
Responsible for planning, designing, estimating, scheduling, directing, and inspecting small-sized renovation and construction projects to ensure objectives are met.
Job duties include managing, monitoring, and directing contracts with contractors, architects, engineers, and consultants for assigned projects. Also includes planning, designing, scheduling, and estimating various requests for new construction projects, facility modification / renovation or major maintenance. Additionally, the role involves evaluating and making recommendations on facility conditions, renovations, and repairs.
Required qualifications include engineering and / or construction management education, training, and experience; intermediate-level mathematical and engineering skills; ability to confirm plan accuracy, develop take-off from plans, ability to reference estimations resources, process accurate projects cost and manage step-by-step construction, renovation, and maintenance projects; knowledge of drafting tools / techniques, ability to draft using CADD technology, application of standard architectural graphic standards and principles; reading ability to understand, interpret, and apply complex legal and technical documents, contracts for construction, blueprints, and schematics; communicate and negotiate project requests to a variety of clients including staff, administrators, faculty, students, and contractors; writing skill to prepare clear, concise, correct reports, letters, specifications, CADD drawings and estimates; successfully interact with and interpret requests from a wide variety of clients, direct the work of others, work as a team member / leader, and negotiate / mitigate personnel challenges; facilitation skills; experience using personal computers; and prepare business correspondence, policy / proposal development reports.
Preferred qualifications include a bachelor's degree in a related field.
Normal work days are Monday through Friday with work hours from 8 : 00 AM to 5 : 00 PM. The job is open until filled.
Applicants must have a valid Texas Driver's License and be a driver in good standing with less than ten (10) points deducted for driving infractions as determined by the employer driving standards system.
