The unit consists of 36 private rooms. Patient population includes young adults through geriatric patients. Priority is given to patients requiring cardiac care and recovery from cardiac interventions. Interventions include cardiac surgery, coronary artery stent placement, and pacemaker implantation. The unit also admits hemodynamically stable non-procedural cardiac patients. Patient ratio is 1 nurse to 6 patients. Floating to units of equal or lesser acuity may be required. Travel experience is necessary. Weekends are required every other weekend. Familiarity with accessing and managing ports is essential. Responsibilities include blood product administration and cardiac telemetry. The nurse will also perform hemodynamic monitoring and care for patients with arterial lines and central lines. Knowledge of interpreting dysrhythmias and management of vasoactive drips is expected. The role includes coordination with interdisciplinary support services such as physical therapy and respiratory services. Adherence to isolation precautions and safety protocols is mandatory.
