Schedule

Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Occasional evening or weekend work may be required based on business needs.

As the organization plans for future growth, more defined shifts (such as 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., or 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.) may be evaluated in the future. Any changes would be communicated in advance, with consideration given to business needs and employee impact.

The Role

The Senior Underwriter plays a key role in evaluating small business loan requests that fall outside traditional lending models. This position uses analytical judgment, credit review, and documentation verification to support timely funding decisions. You’ll work closely with sales partners and external stakeholders to move deals forward while managing risk appropriately.

What You’ll Do

• Review and evaluate small business loan requests that do not fit standard underwriting models

• Analyze financial, credit, and supporting documentation to make informed credit decisions

• Verify the accuracy and completeness of incoming documentation using company and lender guidelines

• Prepare contracts and ensure all required information is in place prior to funding

• Interpret credit approvals and work through stipulations by gathering appropriate supporting documents

• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to resolve questions and move files to completion

• Use online tools and third-party resources to validate business and borrower information

• Maintain clear, consistent communication through email and task-based systems

Requirements:

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

• Experience underwriting or making credit decisions in a lending or financial services environment

• Ability to evaluate risk using financial analysis, documentation review, and professional judgment

• Experience working with non-traditional or small business lending structures

• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple files at once

• Clear written and verbal communication skills

• Comfort working independently while collaborating with sales and operations teams

• Proficiency with basic office software and internet-based research tools

Preferred Qualifications

• Four or more years of underwriting or credit decision experience

• Experience with working capital loans, advances, or similar products

• Background working directly with sales or external funding partners

• Experience in a high-volume or deadline-driven environment
