As the Compensation Specialist, you will manage various aspects of our client's compensation program, including plan design, analysis, budgeting, and administration for all employees including executives, salaried exempt staff, and hourly nonexempt trade employees. This is a permanent opportunity available to candidates in the Calgary and Edmonton area.

Responsibilities:
- Serve as primary point-of-contact with external compensation and related systems vendors, providers and consultants, and relevant agencies
- Provide data analysis, reporting, and technical support to establish and maintain standardization and consistency of pay structure
- Keep apprised of national, provincial, and local compensation laws and regulations and ensure company compliance
- Perform job description analyses for compensation, organizational comparisons, and internal and external equity
- Assist with benchmarking jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges for positions
- Participate in market and industry salary surveys and conduct analysis of exempt and nonexempt compensation to ensure company compensation is competitive with the market
- Develop and document procedures to streamline processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Work with Business Analysts and payroll staff to ensure that the system supports the implementation of compensation programs and is updated to reflect changes to salary structures, bonus programs, annual merit reviews, etc.
- Assist with the development and administration of various aspects of staff and executive compensation, including salary, annual bonus program, annual salary reviews, and other incentives
- Maintain and monitor Total Rewards Statement, Total Rewards platform, and online reporting
- Assist with the development of compensation packages for relocation arrangements for employees, working with Talent Acquisition and leadership to facilitate internal mobility efforts
- Proactively audit internal and external data transmissions and conduct periodic audits to ensure data integrity
- Advise HR and operational managers on compensation-related issues
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of progressive compensation experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in Human Resources or related discipline
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to effectively communicate and present findings
- Self-starter and capable of managing projects and tasks successfully to completion
- Construction industry experience is an asset
- Compensation Professional Certification (CPC) is an asset
