Nurse Instructor

Southern Careers Institute (SCI) is seeking Nurses to share their passion for the industry and teach in our new Nurse Program at Brownsville Campus!

Duties

• Develop, review, and update nursing curricula aligned with current industry standards and accreditation requirements, incorporating innovative learning technologies.
• Deliver engaging classroom lectures and clinical instruction across various nursing specialties.
• Supervise students during clinical rotations in teaching hospitals and healthcare facilities, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality patient care practices.
• Assess student performance through examinations, practical demonstrations, documentation reviews, and care plan evaluations; provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
• Engage in research activities related to nursing education or healthcare practices; contribute findings through publications or presentations.
• Participate in curriculum development initiatives that incorporate current medical terminology, care standards, and emerging healthcare trends.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of student progress, clinical evaluations, and compliance with accreditation standards.
• Stay updated on advancements in nursing practice including phlebotomy techniques, critical care procedures, nurse management strategies, and hospital protocols.

Requirements

• Current Texas RN license
• Minimum of a Master’s Degree or Doctoral Degree, preferably in Nursing. Preference is that the Master’s Degree is in Nursing (MSN). If Master’s Degree is in another Discipline, shall hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and at least six (6) credits of graduate semester hours in nursing
• Show evidence of teaching abilities and maintaining current knowledge, clinical expertise, and safety in the subject area to be taught; Prior teaching experience at a university or higher education institution is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, patient care procedures, documentation review processes, and healthcare regulations.
• Excellent communication skills for effective classroom teaching and collaboration with healthcare professionals.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a positive learning environment.
