Lead Data Modeler (Remote)

Job Description

We’re looking for a detail‑oriented and highly collaborative BI Data Modeler to support one of our clients in the infrastructure construction space. In this role, you’ll partner closely with cross‑functional teams to design, refine, and maintain enterprise data models that enable accurate reporting, analytics, and decision‑making across the organization. You’ll work directly with business stakeholders, data owners, application designers, and data architects to understand how data flows through various source systems and how it supports core business processes. Your work will include developing new data models, enhancing existing ones, and ensuring all models are optimized, scalable, and aligned with business goals. You’ll also play a key role in requirements gathering, business process analysis, and translating complex needs into well‑structured data solutions. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, a proactive mindset, and hands‑on expertise with Databricks, Power BI semantic modeling, DAX, SQL, and Python.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience ensuring data quality using established methods and tools (accuracy, completeness, validity, consistency, timeliness).
• 2+ years of experience preparing and structuring data models for analysis using systematic, repeatable approaches.
• 3+ years of experience working directly with clients and delivering high‑quality work under tight deadlines.
• Proficient in Azure, Databricks, SQL, Python, Power BI and DAX
• Good working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
• Demonstrated experience using AI‑enabled platforms or tools for data modernization.
• Experience delivering work with Agile/Scrum practices & software release cycle
• Demonstrated experience leading technical code reviews for DAX and SQL, and facilitating elaboration or design review discussions
• Proven ability to drive and implement end to end process improvements that strengthen data modeling practices, governance, and delivery efficiency

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

•Experience working in Databricks gold layer
• Power Platform experience
• Azure OpenAI; any AI-driven background is a plus
• Experience with Power Query
•Experience with Purview (Microsoft)
