Join us as an Executive Underwriter at Shepherd, a technology‑driven Managing General Underwriter (MGU) transforming commercial Property & Casualty insurance for high‑hazard industries. Shepherd’s mission is to make risk frictionless for the builders and operators shaping the physical world, protecting progress from concept through construction and into decades of operation.

Base pay range : $185,000.00 / yr – $228,000.00 / yr.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and negotiating price, coverage, terms and conditions for all new business and renewals.
  • Actively identifying target accounts that fit Shepherd’s underwriting appetite.
  • Managing multiple tasks / projects simultaneously to deliver quick, informed underwriting decisions.
  • Working closely with internal and external partners to successfully negotiate at all levels.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7+ years of previous experience in commercial underwriting space (Construction, Casualty, and / or Builder's Risk experience preferred).
  • Strong work ethic, self‑motivated, high EQ, exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Strong sales and marketing skills, ability to position accounts and close deals.
  • Solid background in risk analysis; proficiency with compliance, coverage, products, and pricing strategies.
  • Ability to handle ambiguity and adapt to a fast‑paced startup environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
