Under the direction of the Chief Strategy Officer, the Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for developing, maintaining, and expanding physician and non-physician referral relationships to drive growth for Radiology Associates of Hartford (RAH). This position plays a key role in executing marketing strategies, identifying new business opportunities, and increasing referral volume across RAH’s service areas.
The BDM collaborates with executive leadership to align growth initiatives with organizational objectives, expand market presence, and enhance revenue through referral generation, self-pay growth, and professional service agreements.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Development & Relationship Management
- Serve as an ambassador of RAH and actively promote targeted services and products.
- Build and maintain relationships with physicians, office staff, healthcare organizations, and community partners to increase referrals and brand awareness.
- Conduct regular visits to referral offices within assigned territory and maintain an updated CRM database of all contacts, activities, and outcomes.
- Develop and execute quarterly and annual business plans focused on growth and market expansion goals.
- Coordinate and facilitate educational and promotional events such as office lunches, community presentations, and medical group meetings.
- Collaborate with RAH physicians and leadership on joint marketing initiatives and outreach activities.
Strategic Marketing & Territory Management
Participate in the development and implementation of marketing and sales strategies, including :o Service area and market analysis
o Referral pattern and volume analysis
o Competitive intelligence gathering
o Identification of niche and growth opportunities
Utilize marketing tools, promotional materials, and digital assets effectively to support sales efforts.Request and share educational materials and diagnostic imaging examples with referring physicians to promote RAH services.Ensure effective execution of all marketing plans and monitor performance metrics against objectives.Operational Excellence & Compliance
Maintain accurate and timely records of all contacts and activities in the CRM system.Ensure compliance with all HIPAA regulations and confidentiality policies.Maintain a professional presence in assigned territory and uphold RAH’s standards of conduct and service excellence.Report unsafe conditions, defective equipment, or other hazards promptly.Support a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with company standards.Collaboration & Communication
Meet regularly with the CSO and Executive Director to review referral trends, marketing effectiveness, and territory performance.Communicate effectively with referring providers and internal teams to ensure seamless service and customer satisfaction.Contribute to a positive and cooperative work culture with physicians, staff, and leadership.Professional Development
Participate in ongoing training, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities.Stay current on trends in diagnostic imaging, healthcare marketing, and business development practices.Other Duties
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the CSO or Executive Director based on business needs.Requirements :
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education : Required : High School Diploma or GED - Preferred : Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field
Experience : Required : Minimum of three (3) years of marketing or sales experience, preferably in healthcare or diagnostic imaging. - Preferred : Experience in medical marketing, referral development, or managed care contracting.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is primarily field based, requiring extensive local travel (approximately 95%) throughout the greater Hartford region. The role involves frequent visits to physician offices, hospitals, and community organizations. The employee may also work from an office or remote environment for administrative and reporting responsibilities.
