Located in the Campus Life Services organization, FS is organized into 5 distinct units: (1) Mission Bay/East Campus Facilities Services, (2) Parnassus/West Campus Facilities Services, (3) Engineering & Energy Services, (4) Customer Service & Technology, and (5) Strategic Organizational Development & Training.

The Fire and Life Safety Unit in the Facilities Services Department is responsible for the Fire Alarm systems maintenance, operation, repairs, design, installation, programming, testing and inspection. along with Fire Extinguishers maintenance and inspection. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for Fire Sprinkler maintenance, service, testing and inspection at UCSF. Under the direction of the Fire and Life Safety Systems program leadership, the incumbent will test and inspect fire and life safety systems and assist in installation, maintenance and repair of equipment.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $28.50 - $38.36 (Hourly Rate).

Located in the Campus Life Services (CLS) organization, FS is organized into five distinct units: (1) Mission Bay / East Campus Operations, (2) Parnassus / West Campus Operations, (3) Infrastructure & Utilities Services, (4) Customer Service & Technology, and (5) Strategic Organization Development. FS participates in system-wide Principles of Community and all FS leaders are expected to create a fair, equitable, safe and supportive work environment, where everyone can do their best work. Required Qualifications

• Two (2) years of experience working in a facilities organization or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing with campus departments at all levels, contractors and design consultants; ability to effectively interact with a diverse professional staff both independently and as a team member in a busy environment
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic calculations and reports
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated ability to give clear written and oral instructions
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Able to analyze problems, determine solutions, and make decisions based on analysis
• Fingerprinting, background check, and physical examination required

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
• Demonstrated theoretical and working knowledge of Fire Safety inspection process
• Working knowledge of applicable building and safety codes
