American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a busy stroke center requiring BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI, and at least 2 years of ED RN experience.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position is in a 34-bed Emergency Department within a stroke centerPatient population includes all ages, with high acuity cases and stabilization of trauma prior to transferAverage census is over 200 patients per day in a fast-paced environmentTypical patient ratio is 1 : 4 for RNsShifts are 12 hours from 1500 to 0300 with every other weekend rotationFloating to multiple facilities within the region is required, including mid-shift floating as neededEMR system used is Epic, with Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitorsNo call required; expectation to work 75% of holidaysScrub color is navyCore responsibilities include triage, stabilization, and treatment of patients presenting with a wide range of emergency conditionsCare for both medical and behavioral health emergencies, including those with trauma stabilization needsSupport includes a team with CNAs, receptionists, and charge nursesDepartment emphasizes collaboration and teamworkOrientation includes facility orientation and 2 days of departmental orientationRTO up to 6 days may be approved, excluding holidays, and time off must be added to contract if contracted hours are not metParking is free for employeesFirst-time travelers will be considered though not preferred\n \n Requirements\n
Active NC or compact RN licenseCurrent BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI certifications requiredMinimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department RN experience requiredGeneral ED skillset including adult and pediatric care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, critical care drips, PIV starts, TNK / TPA administration, and conscious sedationTNCC certification preferredAbility to care for a diverse and challenging patient population, including trauma and behavioral healthExperience with Epic EMR preferredPermanent address must be at least 50 miles from home unit\n Benefits\n
