Controls Engineer

4P Consulting Inc. is seeking a Field PLC Controls Engineer with expertise in Modicon PLCs to support a client in Goose Creek, SC. This role is hands-on and requires working directly in industrial and manufacturing environments, troubleshooting and maintaining automation control systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for on-site diagnostics, repairs, and upgrades to PLC-based automation systems.Key Responsibilities

• On-Site Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Diagnose and resolve PLC control system issues to minimize downtime in manufacturing and industrial operations.
• PLC & HMI Support: Modify and optimize Modicon PLC programs (Schneider Electric) as needed to improve system performance.
• Field Service & System Upgrades: Perform real-time system updates, component replacements, and firmware updates on PLCs and control panels.
• Equipment Commissioning: Assist with the startup, testing, and validation of newly installed automation systems.
• Preventive Maintenance: Conduct routine system checks, backup PLC programs, and ensure control system reliability.
• Collaboration & Documentation: Work closely with maintenance, engineering, and production teams while maintaining service records and technical documentation.

Qualifications & Experience

3+ years of hands-on experience in PLC troubleshooting, field service, or industrial automation maintenance.
Expertise in Modicon PLCs (Schneider Electric) and field diagnostics.
Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including control panels, sensors, VFDs, and instrumentation.
Ability to work in high-paced, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environments.
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, hands-on approach to troubleshooting.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work in the field with minimal supervision and respond to urgent service requests.
