System Engineer- Enterprise Data Engineer

Overview

In this position you will partner with customers on enterprise database design and implementation strategies while applying Esri technology best practices. You will consult with customers to understand business and technical requirements design enterprise data management strategies and implement those strategies throughout the engagement life cycle. You will work both independently and as part of project teams to configure back-end geospatial database management capabilities that support customer workflows utilizing ArcGIS web desktop and mobile applications.

Esri has a Relocation Assistance Program and can provide support with relocating to the St. Louis MO area for this position.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic technical discussions with customers guiding them through complex data architecture and database design decisions
• Design and implement robust scalable and secure database solutions to support mission-critical applications
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams during all phases of implementation including requirements analysis design build/configuration and deployment
• Configure and maintain database environments including backup restore high-availability and disaster recovery strategies
• Monitor and tune database performance using industry-standard tools and methodologies (such as query optimization indexing strategies)
• Implement data security measures access controls and compliance standards across environments
• Automate routine database loading maintenance and monitoring tasks to improve efficiency
• Provide technical guidance and best practices for database design migration and integration projects

Requirements

• 8 years of hands-on experience in database design administration and optimization for Oracle SQL Server PostgreSQL or SAP HANA
• Demonstrated experience with database design principles data loading techniques backup and recovery solutions performance monitoring and tuning database maintenance and security
• Scripting skills in SQL and Python for automation and data workflows
• Experience with cloud-based database solutions (such as AWS RDS Azure SQL Database)
• Basic understanding of geospatial concepts such as spatial data types coordinate systems and spatial indexing
• Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to technical peers and non-technical project managers or customers
• US citizenship and willingness and ability to maintain a US Security Clearance
• Bachelors degree in computer science mathematics GIS or related STEM field

Recommended Qualifications

• Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise geodatabases
• Knowledge of integrating GIS with other enterprise systems
• One or more industry-standard IT certifications (such as Esri CompTIA Microsoft Amazon PostgreSQL Oracle)
• Masters degree in computer science mathematics GIS or related STEM field
