Green Team - Waste Collection & Diversion Tech

The opportunity:

NWC is in search of a Campus Green Team - Waste Collection & Diversion Tech that can be ready on day one to jump in on multiple fronts. This job will collect waste from around campus and process it through the campus diversion program, this will ensure that campus waste is safely and sustainably handled. This position will work with partners as well with waste diversion and will track all waste numbers for reporting and objectives established by the COO.

You’ll join a small, nimble, collaborative, creative, and entrepreneurial team as we accelerate growth of a new events hub and innovation campus in Denver, Colorado. What you will do:

• Operating collection and diversion equipment and doing routine and daily maintenance checks and repairs.
• Daily pick up of sites around campus, this requires using equipment for waste collection and may require physical lifting and movement from waste collection.
• Will work in the HUB building where the NWC diversion program is managed, diverting by using equipment and physical sorting and movement of waste for collections by the vendors.
• NWC waste diversion program has many diversion needs and start at point of use to HUB, those will all be audited and managed making sure there is efficiency built into the process.
• Coordinating and working with the Sustainability Manager to coordinate and optimize routes and schedules for maximum efficiency.
• Adhere and comply to safety regulation and other governing agency regulations.
• Educate the public and partners on proper waste disposal practices.
• Will work with animal manures, wood chips, mulch, compost and down wood in processes.

• Strong passion for sustainability ethics and standards
• Understanding proper waste disposal methods, recycling processes, relevant regulations.
• Ability to resolve issues related to waste collection and effectively prioritize tasks and maintain accurate records.
• Equipment use and training.
• Experience in Arena, Convention, Stadium is helpful.
• This role is physically demanding, requiring standing, walking, lifting, bending for long periods of time.
• Will need a current driver license and good driving record.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• High EQ and interpersonal skills.

Work location and hours:

This position can be performed through on-site work in Denver, Colorado.

Compensation range:

The starting salary is $$25.00 - $27.00/HR

The brand-new Stockyards Event Center is a multipurpose space with two arenas, ample parking and views of the Rocky Mountains and the Denver skyline. The Authority is the primary entity responsible for ensuring the National Western Center achieves its mission. It is also responsible for developing a community investment fund benefiting the residents of the Globeville, Elyria and Swansea neighborhoods in which the campus is located. The Authority’s work is well underway in preparation for buildings being completed and the larger campus opening to the public. The Authority is guided by a 13-member board of directors. The Authority is doing business as (DBA) the National Western Center.
