Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant

SSM Health-Dean Medical Group, a leading multi-specialty group with a team of 500 physicians, is excited to invite an experienced Physician Assistant in Cardiothoracic Surgery to join our well-respected Cardiothoracic Surgery Department. Currently, our department boasts a dedicated team of 3 physicians and 6 advanced practitioners.

At SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital, we are proud to offer unparalleled robotic surgery capabilities, standing out as one of the few centers nationwide that provide both robotic cardiac and thoracic surgery. Our extensive range of procedures includes CABG, Valve surgery, Aortic aneurysms and dissections, as well as pulmonary resections and decortications. Please note that we do not perform ventricular assist devices.

We are seeking an enthusiastic candidate who thrives in an operating room setting and possesses surgical first assist experience. The ideal Physician Assistant will be an integral part of a high-performing team, taking on a variety of responsibilities including :

• Assisting in the operating room, including endoscopic and open vein and radial artery harvesting.
• Caring for patients on the Cardiothoracic Surgery inpatient unit.
• Participating in night call shifts on weeknights and weekends, with a schedule anticipated to be 1 in 6 for each, specifically for floor patients and operating room assistance.
• Occasional outpatient clinic care, although primarily focused on inpatient & OR duties.
