Job Summary

Purpose of Position :

The Columbus Promise Program Student Assistant serves to support and positively represent the Columbus Promise program. The Columbus Promise Program Student Assistant will serve as a Columbus Promise representative at campus events, assist with event preparation and clean up for Columbus Promise events and other programming, provide marketing and communication support using social media and other tools, and provide customer service and office support via email and / or phone.

This position is open to students with or without Federal Work Study eligibility.

Must be a current Columbus Promise student in good Satisfactory Academic Progress standing and enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours.

Duties and Responsibilities :

1. Attend and represent the Columbus Promise program at variety of campus and community engagement opportunities.

2. Assist with event prep and tear down by assembling materials, transporting materials across campus, etc. at Columbus Promise events or campus

events where Columbus Promise has a presence.

3. Creating and distribute marketing materials such as flyers, posters, and presentations for Columbus Promise events and general Columbus Promise messaging.

4. Maintain consistent outreach and engagement on Columbus Promise social media by creating posts and opportunities for student interaction.

5. Provide font desk coverage and customer service in person, via email, or phone as needed. Columbus Promise Program Assistants will be able to answer general questions about the Columbus Promise program.

6. Maintains privacy and confidentiality of student records and other sensitive information.

7. Fosters and maintains a safe environment of respect and inclusion for faculty, staff, students, and members of the community.

8. Work a consistent, reliable schedule and exhibits regular and punctual attendance.

9. Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

Knowledge of : The Columbus Promise program requirements, Columbus State campus, programs, services, and opportunities for student engagement.

Skill in : The Columbus Promise Program Assistant should have strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, comfort with public speaking, and attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Ability to : Communicate effectively with students and staff and direct students to other CSCC departments as needed. Experience with Linktree, Canva, Instagram, CapCut, and other social media / marketing platforms or willingness to learn.

Minimum / General Qualifications :

This position requires that any applicant be enrolled as a current student at Columbus State in three or more credit hours in a degree or certificate seeking program. Visit for a full explanation of eligibility requirements for student employment at Columbus State.

OR

This position requires applicants to have Federal Work Study as part of their current Financial Aid package with Columbus State. You must also be enrolled in SIX or more credit hours in a degree or certificate program. Visit for a full explanation of eligibility requirements or visit Nestor Hall 113 to request Federal Work Study if you were not awarded it already. Any applicants without Federal Work Study eligibility will not be considered for this position.

Applicants must have received a high school diploma or a certificate of attendance from an accredited secondary school or a certificate of high school equivalence and be exempt from Ohio Revised Code Chapter 4109.

Must have reliable transportation or other means to get to work regularly.

Students enrolled as Transient, College Credit Plus, Undecided, or otherwise non-degree-seeking are not considered eligible for Student Employment.

Schedule :

TBD by the needs of department and student schedule between office hours of Monday - Friday 8 am to 5 pm. Maximum 20 hours per week.

Work will be performed : On-site only.

Position Specific Qualifications :

• Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours per Columbus Promise program requirements
• Must be a current Columbus Promise student in good Satisfactory Academic Progress standing

Preferred Qualifications :

Familiarity with Canva, Microsoft Office, and Instagram. Willingness to learn, problem-solve, and be creative.

The program consists of brief, structured conversations between supervisor and student to reflect on and integrate what they are learning. All student employees and their functional supervisors participate in this program during Autumn and Spring semesters.

Career and Leadership Development Program (CLDP)

The program consists of paid competency-based career and leadership development activities designed by Career Services. All Tier / Level III positions are automatically enrolled in this program.
