The Role
The Lead Technical Project Manager – Individual will perform technical project management functions in the GSD NOC on U.S. Government owned networks. Work location Denver, CO. The position mandates an active Government security clearance or a successful pre-screen evaluation in order to obtain a Government security clearance.
The Main Responsibilities
- Trouble ticket management for dark fiber and circuit level issues (scheduling FOPs, working with OSPE/NI, updating tickets, rescheduling, working with off-net carriers)
- NOC phone queue to take incoming calls from customer NOCs and other partner affiliated entities
- Processing scheduled maintenance notifications for Federal customers to determine risk assessments, impact level, and MOP review
- Provide background and scope of work pertaining to fiber maintenance, circuit grooms, equipment maintenance
- Cataloging maintenance notifications in GSD NOC database, issue status updates for completed and rescheduled work
- Review and evaluate customer maintenance submissions for technical scope and requirements. Coordinate field personnel resources, equipment and test gear.
- Conduct fiber and equipment activities and testing with customer
- Logistics support for equipment and component sparing, expedited shipment support and coordination with Field Operations
- Manage RMAs, track deliveries to and from vendors to ensure inventory levels, validate and locate missing assets, prepare RMA reports and liaise with vendors for technical support
- Research and evaluate project risk – utilize decision making authority to determines solutions for managing the risk
- Review and interpret customer expectations in order to manage customer relationship
- Prepare monthly reports for fiber availability, scheduled maintenance activities, customer network metrics and trending information
- Liaise closely with other internal departments – Change Management, OSP Engineering, Field Operations, Construction and Splicing teams
- Act as an advocate for customer maintenance requirements
- Participate in customer presentations
- Interface closely with Program Offices, Service Managers and Property Management
What We Look For in a Candidate
- Minimum of 5+ years’ experience with long-haul and metro transport networks, next-generation DWDM wavelength systems
- Broad experience with various vendor platforms for optical networks – Ciena, Cisco, Coriant, Fujitsu, Infinera
- Circuit level troubleshooting experience
- Experience with fiber maintenance activities to cover outside plant, and fiber splicing/relocation
- Demonstrated ability to perform process planning and implementation, develop technical documentation and procedure
- Prior NOC experience is preferred
- Must be well versed in scheduled maintenance processes, fiber maintenance activities, circuit grooms and 3rd party providers
- Ability to relate technical issues to management and Gov’t personnel
- Previous experience with Gov’t networks and customers. The ability to interface in a professional manner with management and customers is essential.
- Website management skills, Microsoft suite experience (Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio) to create content, post documentation
- Ability to work in a high stress environment, collaborate very closely with peers, strong communication skills, and able to multitask across multiple issues concurrently
- Associate degree in Engineering, Electronics, Software, or Networks; or a related technical or vocational education or equivalent experience. Five or more years applicable work experience.
- Candidate must possess active security clearance
Compensation
This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
Location Based Pay Ranges
$108,896 - $145,195 in these states: CO
