Lead Infant/Toddler Teacher – Childcare/Daycare Center
Job Summary:
The Lead Infant/Toddler Teacher is responsible for the planning and implementation of a developmentally appropriate curriculum for children ages 6 weeks to 3 years. This role emphasizes nurturing care, early learning experiences, and safety. The Lead Teacher provides direct supervision to assistant teachers and ensures a warm, secure, and stimulating environment that supports each child's individual needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement lesson plans and activities that support the developmental needs of infants and toddlers, including sensory, motor, language, and social-emotional skills.
- Provide responsive care through feeding, diapering, napping, and one-on-one interactions, in alignment with each child’s routine and developmental stage.
- Create and maintain a safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment that supports exploration and learning.
- Observe and document developmental milestones and maintain up-to-date child portfolios and daily reports.
- Foster strong, trusting relationships with children and their families; communicate regularly about the child’s day, progress, and any concerns.
- Model appropriate behavior and guide assistant teachers in best practices for infant/toddler care.
- Ensure compliance with state licensing regulations and health and safety guidelines.
- Attend staff meetings and ongoing professional development in early childhood care and education.
Qualifications:
- CDA, Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Infant/Toddler Development, or a related field (or state-required equivalent).
- Infant/Toddler Lead Teacher certification (as required by state licensing).
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience working with infants and toddlers in a licensed childcare setting.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong understanding of infant/toddler developmental milestones and responsive caregiving.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Patience, flexibility, and a nurturing demeanor.
