Engineering Co-op

Responsibilities

:

• Be a part of the project team and under the supervision of Professional Engineers, performing manhole inspections throughout the City of Akron sewer systems.
• Provide knowledge of municipal infrastructure in a real-life application of civil engineering.
• Locate manholes, take pictures using a tablet, and perform inspection for infiltration and cracks are the main goals for this work.
• You will be able to gain both field and office experience.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Current student at an accredited college or university working toward bachelor’s degree in Civil (preferred) or Environmental Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• Ability to lift manhole covers up to 80 lbs.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Experience with Microsoft Office products required. AutoCAD or ArcGIS experience a plus.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat and work outdoors.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
• Akron residency is highly preferred.
