Shipping and Receiving Clerk

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for accepting, inspecting, stocking, and transferring deliveries.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
• Must be able to follow verbal and written instruction.
• Must be able to operate a computer to issue shipping and receiving information into Epicor 10 Software System and help to reply to emails from sales and purchasing.
• Assist in maintaining equipment i.e. forklift, etc.
• Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment: Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, and/or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information from the pick list, pack slip and to the bill of lading or other records.
• Ship, receive and unload material manually or with equipment such as forklift or pallet jack.
• Examines incoming shipments against pack slips for damaged goods or shortages.
• Communicates with Purchasing and AR before rejecting any damages or shortages.
• Ensures received material is put in the correct location and properly marked.
• Deliver and retrieve raw material and finished goods to and from workstations.
• Pull inventory for orders and pack boxes, pallets, and crates.
• Determines method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
• Issues shipping labels on packed cartons or tags crates, pallets, or boxes with all required markings.
• Examines and photographs outgoing shipments along with keeping a file of all photographs.
• Assist others in preparing outgoing and receiving incoming shipments.
• May receive, store and ship hazardous material.
• Assists in physical inventories for both cycle counting and year-end inventory.
• Assist in maintaining organization and cleanliness in all warehouses.

Requirements:

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: High School Graduate or GED

Experience: Not required but preferred and must possess basic computer skills, i.e. Outlook...

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to stand and walk continuously throughout an 8-hour shift or longer.

Must be able to climb, bend, stoop, lift, carry, and push objects weighing up to 100 Lbs.

Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) like glasses, gloves, belts, and shoes.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Involves working in non-climate controlled warehouses and outside environment during Houston summers and winters. Moderate to high exposure to temperatures, dirt, dust, and fumes.
