AD Detailer / Drafter – SolidWorks & Shop Floor Support

Position Overview

We are seeking a CAD Detailer / Drafter to support the design and production of custom automation and packaging equipment. This role is responsible for preparing, finalizing, and releasing detailed machine and part drawings, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with engineering standards. The position also requires hands-on support on the shop floor to address assembly questions and troubleshoot issues during builds.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed machine and part drawings using SolidWorks (~% of the role)

• Review and finalize drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with engineering standards

• Create and manage bills of materials (BOMs) for production, ensuring ERP alignment

• Support the shop floor (~% of the role) by addressing assembly questions, troubleshooting issues, and making minor drawing updates

• Interpret blueprints, technical specifications, and manufacturing requirements

• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure smooth workflow from design to build

Required Qualifications

• 2–3+ years of CAD experience (drafting/detailing), preferably in a manufacturing or fabrication environment

• Proficiency in SolidWorks, ideally 7–8/ or higher

• Experience designing parts, products, or assemblies for CNC mills/lathes, welding, sheet metal, or fabricated parts

• Strong ability to interpret blueprints, tolerances, and manufacturing requirements

• Comfortable working on the shop floor and collaborating with assembly teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AutoCAD

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, CAD Technology, or related field

• Experience creating and managing BOMs and releasing drawings into ERP systems
