Pipefitter - Mechanical - Caribbean Position

A mechanical contractor with over 50 years of business experience has an opening for an experienced mechanical pipefitter in the Caribbean.

JOB SUMMARY:

Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, and sprinkling, in mechanical construction.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• For consideration, candidates must have at least 5 years of pipefitting experience in mechanical construction.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Cut and thread pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders.
• Must follow the direction of the project supervisor.
• Attach pipes to walls, structures, and fixtures using brackets, clamps, and tools.
• Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment, according to specifications, by brazing, cementing, soldering, pressing, and threading joints.
• Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipelines, using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods.
• Measure and mark pipes for proper installation.
• Lay out of pipe systems, supports, and related equipment, following plans, details, and specifications.
• Select pipe sizes and types and related materials, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to specifications and details.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to live and work in the Caribbean.
• Must be able to use an Oxygen and Acetylene Torch to cut steel pipe
• Must always put SAFETY FIRST.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be able to lift 50lbs. unassisted
• Must be able to perform multiple tasks safely and with quality.
• Must be able to work inside and outside.
• Must be able to work at various heights above the floor with a ladder, scaffold, and man-lift when required.
• Must be able to work in excavated trenches.
• Must own all hand tools needed to perform as a pipefitter as described in the tool list.
• Must have knowledge of the piping system being installed (chilled water, heated water, steam, condensate, etc.).
• Must understand construction terms.
• Must be able to work overtime as required.
