Position Overview
The Cell Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of cellular tower and wireless communication infrastructure. This role works hands-on in the field and supports Desert Services commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence. Technicians may work independently or as part of a crew and must follow all company and client safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and upgrade cellular tower equipment, including antennas, mounts, radios, and cabling
- Perform tower modifications, upgrades, and decommissioning activities
- Troubleshoot and repair RF, coax, and fiber systems
- Conduct site inspections and complete required documentation and reports
- Follow all OSHA, company, and client safety procedures at all times
- Use hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment safely and effectively
- Communicate clearly with crew members, supervisors, and project managers
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in good working condition
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Cell Technician or Tower Technician preferred
- Ability to climb towers and structures at heights of 50300+ feet
- Knowledge of cellular equipment, cabling standards, and installation practices
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification (preferred or willing to obtain)
- Valid drivers license with acceptable driving record
- Willingness to travel and work extended hours as needed
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift and carry up to 5075 lbs
- Ability to climb, kneel, bend, and stand for extended periods
- Comfortable working at heights and in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, wind)
- Ability to work in confined or elevated spaces
