Primary Purpose
The Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional responsible for coordinating patient care with the healthcare team using the Parkland nursing professional practice model. Through the nursing process, RNs assess patients, formulate nursing diagnoses, develop personalized care plans, and evaluate patient responses. RNs play a crucial role in ensuring that patients transition through their healthcare experiences smoothly and without complications.
Minimum Specifications
Education : Graduate from an accredited nursing school.
Experience : Two years of nursing experience required, preferably in an acute care setting.
Certification / Registration / Licensure
- Current RN license or valid temporary permit with the Texas Board of Nursing or valid Compact RN license
- Current healthcare provider BLS certification from one of the following organizations :
- American Heart Association
- American Red Cross
- Military Training Network
Skills or Special Abilities
Deliver care to your assigned patient population in compliance with the Texas Nurse Practice Act, protocols, multidisciplinary plans of care, and specific clinical standards.Provide continuous assessment, collaborate with team members, and offer nursing care that reflects patient-centered values.Exercise independent judgment in nursing practices.Demonstrate effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.Communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff following established protocols.May require effective communication via the overhead paging system.Provide direction to non-nursing staff, serve as a preceptor, and occasionally fulfill Charge Nurse responsibilities.Prepare and lead in-service educational programs.Demonstrate patient-centered behaviors.Responsibilities
Act as a patient advocate, prioritizing patient needs, rights, confidentiality, and cultural preferences while fostering positive relationships with all stakeholders.Educate patients and families on care options and processes, serving as a resource for specific clinical issues.Engage in community outreach activities as assigned, such as health fairs and outreach clinics.Maintain knowledge of rules, regulations, policies, and laws governing nursing practice, ensuring compliance with hospital and Parkland standards.Develop internal controls promoting adherence to state and federal laws and accreditation agency requirements, while staying updated on sanitation and infection control practices.PCHP prohibits discrimination based on age (40 or over), race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy), sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, genetic information, disability, national origin, marital status, political belief, or veteran status.
