Auto Body Technician

Hourly Rate: $25.00 - $30.00 an hour DOE

Shift: Monday thru Friday 7:00 am 3:30 pm

Responsibilities Include:

• Identify and resolve parts required for repair; review repair orders work order and Body Shop Managers estimate notes; follow warranty guidelines; notify supervisor of any repair add-ons.
• Adjust replace and repair all series of truck and trailer equipment ( metal repairs fiberglass/ panel repairs fabrication and structural welding installation and alignment of truck cab body components electrical and mechanical repairs etc.)
• Maintain current knowledge of job and technical skills including truck manufacturers repair process
• Perform work as outlined on repair estimates with efficiency and accuracy in accordance with dealership and factory standards
• Tear down and inspect for additional or hidden repairs
• Advise body shop estimator of additional damage or supplemental needs or if repairs will not be completed on time
• Lead work of any apprentice technicians and maintain ASE certifications

Qualifications of the Body Shop Technician:

• Welding suspension framework experience a plus OR willing to learn/train
• ASE Certifications; Damage Analysis and Estimating Mechanical and Electrical Components Non-Structural Analysis and Damage Repair and State Vehicle Inspector (preferred)
• Certifications listed above or equivalent experience and eagerness to improve
• Valid drivers license and clean driving record
• Must complete a background check

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Diagnoses and repairs for all damaged equipment along with fundamental maintenance repairs to tractors and trucks using well-established procedures to restore equipment back to original state.
• Able to perform safe and meaningful welding practices to include aluminum.
• Installs and removes decals as necessary
• Identifies parts and/or systems for repair; repairs or replaces as appropriate such as radiator replacements CAC and Condenser replacements as needed.
• Removes broken parts and replaces with new or reconditioned parts.
• Road tests vehicles to diagnose issues and ensure a safe operating vehicle.
• Raises equipment using hydraulic jacks.
• Inspects repairs and maintains general trailer structural and suspension systems.
• Maintains accurate updated maintenance records.
• Other duties as required.

Requirements

• 5 years of experience in Truck or Automotive Body shop repair
• Experience in Fiberglass repair to repair vehicles to company standards to include panel repairs straightening and filling when required.
• High school education or GED
• In-depth knowledge of all hand air and power tools required for this industry
• Basic understanding and knowledge of welding and Oxy/Acetylene cutting procedures
• Clean Driving Record
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work well in a team environment
