Join Pride Health as a Specimen Technician at Tampa, FL! This is a 4 months contract role (with high possibility of extension or conversion) offering a great opportunity for experience to excel in a dynamic environment.

Role : Specimen Technician

Location : Tampa, FL 33617

Shift Schedule : Tuesday – Saturday 2 : 30 AM – 11 : 00 AM (3rd Shift)

Hours per Week : 40 hours

Start Date : ASAP

Pay Highlights : $17-19.75 / hour (Based on years of experience)

Key Responsibilities :

Specimen Processing & Technical Support

  • Perform manual specimen processing functions including :
  • Sorting and racking specimens
  • Centrifugation and aliquoting
  • Specimen storage
  • Pickup and delivery of specimens within the laboratory
  • May be trained to operate specimen sorters in archive mode
  • Identify specimen issues (missing information, incorrect specimen types, etc.) and escalate or resolve issues promptly
  • Ensure specimens meet departmental and test-specific requirements for type, quantity, and handling

Quality, Compliance & Documentation

  • Learn and follow compliance regulations related to test ordering, which may change daily
  • Research test order information using translation tables, computer systems, and directories of services
  • Meet quality and production standards within six months of training completion
  • Complete all required documentation accurately, legibly, and within assigned timeframes
  • Team & Operational Support

  • Report to work on time and follow attendance guidelines
  • Support department performance during coworker absences
  • Learn additional functions within Technical Operations and Specimen Processing to support progression
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Fast-paced, heavy production laboratory environment with repetitive tasks
  • Work in a biohazard environment , following all safety and PPE requirements
  • May be required to wear lab coat, gloves, mask, goggles, and other protective equipment
  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and maneuver large carts / racks
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with 5S workplace standards|
  • Qualifications :

    Education : High School Diploma or GED required.

    Experience Preferred :

  • No prior experience required—training provided.
  • Preferred :
  • Previous laboratory or production environment experience
  • Medical background or knowledge of medical terminology
  • Prior hospital laboratory or specimen processing experience
  • Bilingual (Spanish / English) strongly preferred
  • Note : Local candidates within 30 miles are eligible.
