Radioassay Technician (Laboratory Assistant)


Position Type: Full-Time, Temporary (Approx. 1 Year)
Pay Range: $26.00 – $27.00 per hour


Position Overview

The Radioassay Technician is a full-time, temporary position. The assignment is expected to last approximately one year, with a remote possibility of extension depending on business needs. This position is onsite and requires travel between the Valencia and Burbank facilities as needed.

This is an entry-level opportunity within a highly specialized and niche scientific field. Direct radioassay experience is not required, as the successful candidate will be trained from the ground up. The ideal candidate brings strong scientific fundamentals, enthusiasm for laboratory work, integrity, attention to detail, and a proactive, “go-getter” mindset.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine radioactivity measurements, including source measurements
  • Conduct daily checks and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation
  • Support the Radioassay and Quality Management System (QMS) programs
  • Provide back-up support for Final Quality Control activities
  • Assist with customer source complaints and returned materials for calibration (back-up support)
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records, documentation, and filing systems
  • Prepare solutions, perform mass measurements, and operate general laboratory instrumentation
  • Utilize Excel and other Microsoft Office tools for data tracking and analysis
  • Travel between Valencia and Burbank locations for training and operational support
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Education & Experience

Education

  • Associate (AA) degree in a technical/scientific field required
  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) in a technical/scientific field preferred
  • Preferred disciplines: Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Biology, or related field
  • Chemistry or Physics degrees strongly preferred

Experience

  • 1–2 years of experience in an Operations, Production, or Laboratory setting preferred
  • Entry-level candidates with strong scientific fundamentals are encouraged to apply

Technical Skills

Experience in the following areas is ideal but not required:

  • Liquid scintillation counting
  • Gas flow proportional counting
  • Gamma spectrometry
  • Surface barrier detectors
  • Final Quality Control processes
  • Instrument software and computer programming

Strong familiarity with:

  • General laboratory instrumentation
  • Solution preparation and mass measurements
  • Microsoft Excel (ability to build spreadsheets and formulas independently)
  • Microsoft Access and Word

Additional Requirements

  • Must be able to travel between Valencia and Burbank facilities
  • Must be available to work overtime as needed
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
