Medical Assistant

Reports To: Clinical Site Manager

Supervises: N/A

Salary/Status: Non-Exempt

Minimum Requirements:

1. Graduated from accredited school, and High School diploma/G.E.D.
2. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, patients, representatives of outside agencies and the general public.
3. Professional mannerisms and appearance
4. Demonstrate proficiency in assessment and delivery of all services to a diverse population
5. Adult, Infant and Child C.P.R. certification

Responsibilities:

Patient Prepping:

1. In accordance established procedures, take and record vital signs including height, weight, blood pressure, pulse and temperature for all visits.
2. Perform tests, i.e., EKG, vision and audio screening and oxygen saturation as requested.
3. Prepare exam room and assist with exam as needed
4. If bilingual, provide assistance to staff in interpretation during visits and phone contact as needed
5. Perform other duties deemed necessary by Site Manager or Clinical Services Director
6. Oversee providers schedule and management of patient flow
7. Maintain confidentiality of all health center information
8. Schedule patient appointments and follow-up
9. Comply with H.I.P.P.A. regulations

Maintenance of lab/work area:

1. Keep work areas, exam rooms, and lab clean and orderly
2. Maintain Universal Precautions at all times and follow protocols related to blood/body fluid spills
3. Order lab and clinic supplies as needed
4. Inspect supplies in exam rooms and supply closet minimally every quarter and document in log books

Laboratory Assistance:

1. Review order sheet
2. Draw, perform and/or collect all lab specimens ensuring specimen integrity
3. Perform urinalysis, hcg, strep testing , finger stick blood glucose, hgb and lead testing
4. Complete correct lab requisition according to insurance/grant
5. Record completed lab work in lab logs daily
6. Autoclave and record weekly spore count

ACO:

1. Assist with QI projects to improve and maintain quality measures for HRSA, UDS, NCC, ACO and PCMH.

Physical Requirements:

This position may requires the ability to work at a computer workstation. Requirements include lifting and carrying objects weighing 5-20 pounds on average.
Frequent standing and walking.

*Salary ranges from $18 - $24.19
