8 and 12 hr shifts

Every third weekend rotation

Holiday rotation

Sign-On Bonus : $15,000 for 3rd Shift

Unit Overview : Be a part of our 24-bed Neurosurgical Unit where you will provide care for a diverse and complex patient population including :

Post-operative care for craniotomies, cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine surgeries.

Care for patients with hemorrhagic and ischemic strokes as part of our Comprehensive Stroke Program .

Support for a high volume of cervical and spinal surgery patients, alongside medical overflow cases.

Join the Aurora Neuroscience Innovation Institute (ANII) , which offers exposure to the latest neurosurgical techniques and cutting-edge patient care.

Deliver and coordinate comprehensive, evidence-based patient care utilizing the nursing process.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, compassionate, and effective care.

Apply clinical judgment and critical thinking to support optimal patient outcomes.

Major Responsibilities :

Utilize the nursing process to assess patient needs and craft individualized care plans, fostering a therapeutic patient-family relationship.

Identify significant changes in patient conditions and implement appropriate interventions swiftly.

Licensure, Registration, and / or Certification Required :

Registered Nurse license issued by the state of practice.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).

Education Required :

Completion of an accredited Nursing program.

Experience Required :

Typically requires at least 1 year of experience in clinical nursing.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :

Ability to provide holistic patient care with a focus on patient and family perspectives.

Flexibility and confidence in responding to unplanned clinical situations.

Proficient with computer systems including electronic medical records.

Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to collaborate effectively and build professional relationships with patients, team members, and physicians.

Ability to manage time efficiently and prioritize in high-demand settings.

Team building and delegation skills.

Maintains annual educational requirements for hospital certifications.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :

Ability to engage in physical activities such as lifting, standing, and walking throughout the workday.

Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and carrying up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.

Competent in pushing / pulling with 30 lbs. of force and performing sliding transfers with assistance.

May be exposed to hazardous materials, thus protective gear may be required.

Functional capabilities for speech, vision, hearing, and touch needed for tasks such as IV insertion.
