Job Description:
Quality Inspector will perform regular product evaluations, record inspection results, and recommend improvements to the production process. As the quality inspector, you will uphold the safety regulations of our company to guarantee that all our products meet quality expectations. To excel in this role, QC Inspector must demonstrate great attention to detail with excellent technical and math abilities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform in-process and final inspections for welded and fabricated parts. (In the field at Manager’s discretion)
- Verify dimensions using measurement tools (tape measure, calipers, micrometers, squares, gauges).
- Validation of weld appearance and workmanship is preferred.
- Inspection of fabricated parts for fit-up.
- Confirm work orders, revision levels, and material identification.
- Complete inspection records, checklists, and signoffs.
- Document and tag nonconformances; assist with Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
- Communicate issues to welders, leads, and supervisors.
- Support continuous improvement and 5S activities.
- Follow all plant safety and ISO 9001 compliance requirements.
- Perform Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education level: High School Diploma/GED
- Experience: 1-2 years of quality assurance experience, Welding background is preferred.
- IMP is a drug-free workplace. Employees must be able to pass a pre-employment, fit-for-duty physical including a drug screen.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings with some knowledge of GD&T.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Basic understanding of weld types.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to stand, walk and work in shop conditions.
- ASQ certification very helpful, but not required
- Must be able to calibrate and use tape measure, calipers, micrometers, squares, gauges.
- Ability to layout and inspect metal fabricated components and assemblies
- Mechanical skills/aptitude.
- Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office.
- Comfortable with the use of hand and power tools
- Read tape measure to the 1/16th of 1 inch.
- Must have strong math skills
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills, both oral and written
- Must be detail oriented with strong organizational skills
- Self-directed/self-starter - project completion skills with limited direction and guidance
- Must be able to follow company safety and quality control policies and procedures.
- Must be a team player receptive to change and cross functional training.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule including overtime.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and/or extreme cold and extreme heat.
- Regularly exposed to work environments that are excessively loud.
