Senior Database Administrator Oracle and Microsoft

Senior Database Administrator / Systems Engineer to support critical data center operations. This role is essential to maintaining our enterprise-grade infrastructure which includes comprehensive Oracle PostgreSQL IBM DB2 and Microsoft SQL Server database administration across Production Development and Test environments. The successful candidate will manage our complex virtualized environment consisting of 300 VMware virtual servers and physical rack-mounted systemsintegrated with NetApp All Flash array and legacy EMC SAN storage solutions and will be a key participant in their migration and refactoring in the AWS cloud. Key responsibilities encompass advanced IBM Cognos Business Intelligence administrationweb services management and enterprise backup operations using CommVault Complete Data Protection platform and AWS Backup utilities to perform for nightly server and database backups. This position requires expertise in maintaining high availability multi-tier database environments while ensuring optimal performance security and disaster recovery capabilities across all systems supporting the Maryland State Department of Educations educational data infrastructure. This role demands a technical professional capable of managing complex enterprise systems in a mission-critical environment where uptime and data integrity are paramount to supporting educational services across the state.

ORACLE DATABASE ADMINISTRATION

Core Functions :

Database installation configuration and version upgrades

Comprehensive tablespace and storage management

Database reorganization through export / import utilities

Schema management including tables indexes and partitions

Performance tuning including Oracle memory optimization

Rollback segment and extent management

Database backup recovery and restoration operations

Production-to-test database refreshes

Oracle CPU patching and RAC administration

Coordination with Oracle support for production hotfixes

Oracle Application Server & Portal Support :

Oracle 12c Application Server Portal administration

Regular database maintenance and logical backups

MICROSOFT SQL SERVER ADMINISTRATION

Qualifications :

Education and Years of Experience :   Must possess a bachelors degree (masters degree preferred).

Have at least five (5) years of practical experience as a senior DBA resource including certifications as an Oracle and Microsoft SQL Database Administrator.

Preferred Skills :   The ideal candidate shall demonstrate the capability to independently furnish all necessary technical services required to successfully complete complex database administration tasks and produce high-quality deliverables across multiple enterprise systems. SQL Server database administration VMware virtualization storage management business intelligence platforms and data center operations or demonstrate established professional relationships and strategic partnerships with specialized technical resources to ensure seamless service delivery and support for all assigned responsibilities.
