Summary :
We are excited to invite qualified individuals to apply for the position of Foreman for Substation Construction within our T&D Services team. This is a hands-on role that plays a crucial part in ensuring the safety, quality, and productivity of our crew members on various construction projects.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
- Supervise and participate in substation construction and maintenance activities, including trenching, conduit installation, cable pulling, wiring of outdoor electrical equipment, ground grid installation, foundation work, setting steel structures, buswork installation, welding, air switch adjustments, and circuit breaker installations.
- Operate heavy machinery such as aerial lifts, forklifts, skidsteers, backhoes, excavators, and boom trucks used in electrical substation construction.
- Ensure adherence to state and local laws, as well as DOT and OSHA standards.
- Perform services efficiently and safely, maintaining a strong focus on quality.
- Complete necessary paperwork and documentation for services rendered.
- Communicate effectively with customers, property owners, the general public, contractors, utility representatives, and government agencies.
- Track crew working hours and production, and submit billing to the customer weekly.
- Coordinate necessary outages with clients to ensure smooth operations.
- Maintain company equipment safely and efficiently.
Supervisory Responsibilities :
Directly supervise a team of 4 to 12 crew members, providing training and coaching as needed.
Requirements :
Clean driving record; Class A Commercial Driver's License preferred.Ability to read and interpret technical prints and plans.Strong communication skills.Experience in energized substations and the ability to recognize energized live parts.Utility Substation and Transmission Line Switching & Tagging experience is an advantage.Certification as a Crane Operator is a plus.Physical ability to lift / move up to 50 pounds.Pass a skills assessment as part of the hiring process.Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening, physical examination, and background check.Education and Experience :
High School Diploma or GED.At least 7 years of experience as an Apprentice / Journeyman Electrician, including prior Foreman experience.Completion of an accredited Substation Apprentice Program or equivalent work experience as an Apprentice / Journeyman Electrician.Please note that candidates offered employment must complete a pre-employment physical examination to ensure fitness for the role.
