Key Responsibilities:
•Identify design criteria plus plan and execute effective designs.
•Provide direct client interface and spearhead plan processing at public agencies.
•Implement innovative design and plan preparation technology focused on exceeding client expectations.
•Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
•Engineering
•Continuous learning of and applying CADD technologies to the design and plan production process.
•Prepare cost estimates, develop schedules and coordinate the work of the design team with Sr. Project Manager.
•Prepare technical reports and other well-written documents and correspondence.
•Assure work/design is of high quality, cost effective and meets the agency standards.
•Provide direct contact with agencies, coordinate plan processing for approval, work with agencies to resolve design problems and determine compliance with agency requirements for plan approval.
•Coordinate with all outside consultants (soils, structural, architect, etc.).
•Conduct site investigations and other research for proposals, designs and marketing materials.
•Hold field phase "kick off" meeting and provide surveyors with staking plans and resolve construction discrepancies.
•Make periodic visits to site during construction to check for plan conformity and interpretation.
Team
•Supervise engineers and engineering technicians and render assistance in order to maintain project schedule.
•Conduct staff reviews and provide coaching/training.
•Responsible for seeing that all time is properly charged to project and prepare invoices for same.
•Serve as agency and client contact for team.
•Assist Sr. Project Manager with proposal preparation and project budget reviews.
•Initiate, implement and promote new ideas and procedures.
•Determine plan or report format and complete the necessary documentation for the design package.
•Assist Sr. Project Manager in processing plans for approval.
•Represent FEI in meetings with clients and agencies.

Minimum Qualifications :
Supervisory Responsibilities
In coordination with Principal or Sr. Project Manager supervises 3-7 employees in the Engineering Team. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education, Experience & Knowledge: Any combination of a Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Civil Engineering or equivalent discipline from a four-year college or university and civil engineering design experience totaling eight years; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Registration as a California Professional Engineer preferred. Minimum of one year in a responsible position with exposure to technical applications, management of projects and staff interaction ("apprentice period").
