Financial Controller
The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial activities within the manufacturing operation. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, cost management, and compliance while serving as a strategic partner to operations leadership. The Controller plays a critical role in driving profitability, operational efficiency, and informed decision-making.
Financial Reporting & Accounting
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
- Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Ensure accuracy of general ledger, account reconciliations, and journal entries
- Manage external audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting
Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Finance
Oversee cost accounting functions including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuationAnalyze labor, overhead, and material costs to identify savings opportunitiesMaintain and improve cost controls across manufacturing operationsSupport pricing, margin analysis, and profitability initiativesBudgeting & Forecasting
Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processesPartner with plant and operations leadership on financial planningTrack performance against budget and provide actionable variance analysisInternal Controls & Compliance
Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal controlsEnsure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and applicable regulationsSupport SOX compliance where applicableLeadership & Collaboration
Lead and develop accounting and finance staffServe as a financial business partner to operations, engineering, and supply chain teamsProvide financial insight to support capital investments and process improvementsSystems & Process Improvement
Oversee ERP and financial systems usage and enhancementsDrive continuous improvement in financial processes and reportingSupport data accuracy for inventory, production, and costing systemsQualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)CPA, CMA, or MBA (preferred)510+ years of progressive accounting / finance experience in manufacturingStrong background in cost accounting and inventory managementTechnical Skills
Solid understanding of GAAP and manufacturing finance principlesExperience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, NetSuite, or similar)Advanced Excel skills; experience with BI tools a plusKey Competencies
